On Monday night my boyfriend was working at an event, at a Cocktail Party on a roof.It was during sunset and the weather was beautiful. Later we went to get some gelato.(Excuse the facial expression, when I took these photos(yesterday)I was a little tired).
These sandals are new. I just purchased them last week from this local boutique that was clearing its end of season inventory. It was such a bargain.

Peaked

Some of you may have heard about the outrageous show on Sunday July 27th at Mccarren Park Pool. The weather was disastrous, the lines were horrendous and the amount of poeple inside was insane. People came out and braved the weather to little old brooklyn to come see The Ting Tings, Black Moth Super Rainbow and MGMT. It was a line-up not to be missed and everyone definitely did not. I penciled this show in probably since the end of May and have been looking forward to it just as much as Siren maybe even more. Over the last couple of weeks nearing the show I've been seeing ads for it everywhere and knew that it was gonna be quite the turn out but I was not ready for what was to come. Despite the weather there was a line that went down the block of the venue around the corner and then around another corner and down the avenue. I would say there was probably about 1200 people that showed up that day. They pretty much go to capacity at about 3:00. The doors opened at 2:00. I never made it anywhere near the gates. I was too far in the line.(Later on I felt a little stupid because there were ways to get in, that didn't include waiting on line). This show was probably the closest thing this side of the coast has scene to a real festival(since woodstock). Weather and all.Anyways I went to go look to see if there was a way to see the show from the park that is only separated by the gate of the pool. There was no way I was gonna miss this show. even if i wasn't inside.I found some people there trying to look into the venue through some peep holes on the netting of the gate. Finally for some reason Evelyn had a corkscrew in her bag and tried to cut one of the holes even bigger. Some guy saw that we almost had the whole thing cut open and took out his knife(for whatever reason he had a knife on him) and ripped the whole thing open. We had a great view of the stage( a bit far, but good nonetheless.)I made it just in time to hear the last few songs of The Ting Ting's set. They brought in a jump rope squad to jump during one of the songs. It kind of makes sense since they have a cheer leading sound anyways. By the time MGMT came out to perform the rain was gone and the set was fun.I also turned around to see the amount of people behind me, and the amount tripled by the time they came on. Overall I'm glad I stayed to watch the show and hear the music but it definitely doesn't beat being there with the rest of the crowd.
To give you an idea of how many people were inside the venue. but there were still people on line waiting and people watching from the fence.

I was looking through my camera yesterday and realized I never posted anything about Siren Festival. I was so stoked about it all summer but the line-up was kind of lackluster compared to last year's lineup and the year before that. My freinds and I got there just as RaRaRiot was coming on and their set was great. The lead singer and the rest of the orchestra(not really an orchestra but probably the biggest band I've seen in a while they have about 6-8 people on stage all playing an instrument) I couldn't really count I was too far away. My freind wasn't feeling too well and was dehydrating in the sun so we didn't stay past RaRaRiot's set which sucked because I wanted to stay for Broken Social Scene. It also sucks that Siren had to go in such a lackluster way too. I have no idea anymore what rumors are true but as far as I know that was the last Siren Festival in Coney Island. What a shame!!!
Have a listen to RaRa Riot if you haven't heard them yet(my fave is "each year").....

Movie in the Park

Last Tuesday my friends and I went to McCarren Park Pool for a showing of The Virgin Suicides. We were originally supposed to go the previous week as well, for Wet Hot American Summer. We didn't make it. So as I'm walking up the stairs to the huge entrance of the once public pool grounds I'm noticing alot of heads and when I finally reached the top I see a sea of people sitting on the floor all there to watch in harmony the awkward, dramatic, romantic movie.Since we got there a tad late(when the youngest Lisbon daughter commits suicide)we couldn't really maneuver a good angle, plus its not like we had plenty of room to choose from. The weather was as if synced with what we were planning on doing that night, because it was a perfect night for that sort of thing. No humidity, not hot, cool breeze. It was just wonderful.

Party Time, Excellent

Last weekend I invited a bunch of my friends to come out to the Bowery Electric for my 23rd birthday. Granted my real birthday was on sunday July 6th I was away and didn't get to have a little party. So I pushed it off for the 12th.
On Friday I went out for a little shopping and purchased this corset that I've been wanting and looking high and low for.

I also purchased some other amazing finds.
I had in mind an outfit for my party waiting for me in my closet, but you know when it comes to finally wearing you kind of don't want to wear it anymore? yeah, so thats what happened. Luckily I had this corset i purchased the day before and that paired with a black puff skirt had birthday girl outfit written all over it.
