So as of late my camera's battery decided to completely give up on me. It's dead and there's no reviving it. It really puts a damper on my listing things to sell in addition to outfit posts. I can't really blame this problem on my absence since March(?). That's another story but I've decided to dig into my archived outfits that I never got around to posting. They're all pretty much from the winter. It is a little bit of a downer because all anyone seems to be thinking about(including myself) is Spring but they are outfit posts nonetheless.

It's time to do some spring cleaning and clean up the big old mess that has become my closet. With less going into storage due to seasonless dressing(i.e. summer dresses in the winter, sweaters on cold summer nights). It's become hard to manage the damn thing. I'm going to start off with shoes because well theres never enough room for shoes.

First up are one of my more favorite shoes I own. I bought these circa the chanel runway and scored them before it was impossible to find them for lower than a triple digit price. I was very lucky.

They are Vintage Colin Stuart. A size 8( but can fit a 7.5).They have a great tan leather. Just know that these were really loved by me so they do have some wear and tear(but very minor).

I've had these for a long while now and really love them!!! They were great to match with floral dresses and denim jackets.

Lately I have been on a Maxi Binge. I didn't fully commit to this trend but I have a few pieces that are awaiting their exposure from the old closet.Maxi dresses/skirts are not new to fashion trends because they've been on the radar for quite some time now but this modest look has a new face. Less bohemian, more minimalist.I've never really approached the maxi because any time I've come across something it's always been the same thing. Cut at the empire, flares out exaggeratedly.It was a look that didn't suit well for me.I would always look for something that was cut at the small of the waist or something straight so I could belt it to create a silhouette that would work for my frame but was always unsuccessful. Until last year. I found this amazing sheer gauzy maxi in a paisley print at forever21.It was perfect because it was straight and allowed me to play with the silhouette.However this year the more body conscience the better. It's due to the fact that Sweden is THE place to get your source of inspiration and lately Swedes have been pulling out the goth goddess look. Its a formula that works so amazingly well. It's all about getting the right silhouette. Whether it's vintage, a stripe version or plain old jersey scoop neck one thing if for sure the maxi is not going anywhere.

I came across these gorgeous hybrids when I was reading a post on Ringo, Have a Banana. I saw these along with a slue of other shoes for the Opening Ceremony Spring collection. It was the tiniest of a shot of them and you could hardly see the details but I knew that they were my "Sole" mates(a little dorky word play).It's so strange how O.C. really tapped into my psyche on this one.It's like they took everything that I love about shoes and put it into this heaven sent ankle boot. Well one day as I was looking for clog boots (N0.6, you are no match for me)I was reintroduced to them I didn't realize that they had already stocked the website with the collection. I am so enamored I was really thinking about spending such a ghastly(for me at least)price.But as always the conscience, it is a guilty one. Anyone know of a similar option?

I wore this out to go to a friend's house party and then to a bar in the LES. At one point in the night I got beer/alcoholic concoction spilled on my t-shirt that I hadn't gotten a chance to wear before then. I was bummed for like two minutes because it seemed like it disappeared but then the following day I realized how bad it was in broad daylight and I was super bummed but I hand washed it and got most of it out. Aaah the casualties of drinking!!!

I saw these on the Office website back in the fall and was unsure of whether to get them. (I'm not one for the UK shipping fees). When one day they had vanished in the size 8 that I was ogling for over a month. The pang of regret immediately came a-rushing.I started doing searches all over the web to find them or something that was anything similar but alas, nothing. Well the retail gds have answered my prayers and lo and behold one day as I kept going back to the Office website I finally saw they had restocked these awesome boots.I quickly reached for my wallet and made the purchase with shipping fees and all. After a short while of waiting for them to arrive and no sign of any shipping information I e-mailed them inquiring about any sort of information and I got a response saying that I would get them in about a month? A month??? Can you imagine my astonishment? Well I figured that's what you get for ordering something from the UK. Then on one fine(rainy)Saturday I heard my bell ring and there he was the man I was waiting for with a package delivered from across the pond.And it wasn't even a month that had gone by. I was soo happy I wore them out that night.
P.S. I'm not sure if this was intentional on Office's part but these totally resemble the YSL ankle boots seen on(who else but) MK.

After a while of hearing about The Drums and how good they are I finally got down to hearing their stuff and at first I didn't really think much about it but now about a few months later I'm drawn and going to their show in a few weeks.In addition to that a few weeks back I went to this little hidden party at Fontana's and they were playing a bunch of songs from the late 50's early 60's. The combination of the two has really gotten me into a surf rock, twist-y kind of vibe and this is what I've been listening to lately:

This was taken some time in October. I wore this outfit for work/going out after. I needed an outfit that was appropriate enough for work but could also look casual enough for a Minus the Bear show.Honestly I felt a little bit Debbie Harry meets Alexa Chung. The vest and patent oxford brogues being something miss Chung would wear and the rest being the former's choice of attire.

The show was seriously one of the best shows I have been to in probably ever. They sounded amazing live and true to form.It was just one of those shows that wasn't too pretentious and a real chill vibe....very west coast!!!(They're from Seattle)
There was a bit of craziness for me, right before the show. After work I went to get on the train to go meet Danielle at our meeting spot to head over to the venue when I got this crazy pang of realization. I Left My Ticket At Work!!!!! At this point I had already made it to the station where I needed to transfer to another train. I had to go back one stop get back to work and only to realize no one was there anymore. So in a panic I told Danielle to go to the venue and see if she could score a ticket at face(being the price I paid for it), but no such luck. I headed over there in hope of maybe telling the ticket guy my unfortunate story and see if maybe they would let me in out of sheer generosity.(I was not going to miss this show...I waited 4 years to go see them).Finally I told my story to at least 4 people before I could actually tell the manager(who had the final say) and with some eyelash batting and puppy dog eyes he let me in with a bit of hesitation.Seriously one of the best moments of my life. I could kiss him, if...you know... I was that kind of girl.
Then to top it off the show was amazing and they played a lot of old stuff.After the show we headed over to Yaffa Cafe to get some late night eats.An awesome way to end an awesome night.

It's pretty obvious what this collection is being veered towards. The holidays are creeping up and when thinking about New Years, there's always an element of sheen involved. This year it just happens to be on everything. When I came across this collection by Forever21.... Yes... that's right Forever21, I couldn't believe that there was a real editorial vibe going on. I mean usually you can see that they have a bit of a catalog feel with their collection ads but this one really doesn't look like that at all. Taking inspiration from queen of disco, Donna Summer, it really is done well with dare I say it.... creativity!!! Can Ya dig it?

I love this dress. I found it in one of the very few good, "cheap", thrift stores there are in this city. It was kind of hanging there looking really sad and
I overlooked it at first glance but then I looked at it again and I really found potential in it.It was originally ankle length and had three tiers of ruffles towards the hem.I hemmed it and its amazing what one wash could do because it looks good as new.Also thinking of it now, it really reminds me of Jade in Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeroes.She's such an inspiration and she has this aura that you could just sense right out of the speakers. Shes also in a previous post of mine.

A few posts back I posted about having bought 3 different printed dresses. This dress would be the second one. It has a great silhouette and the print is a bit strange(a bunch of filled in and not filled in cubes).I wasn't sure how it would transition to a fall wardrobe but I paired it with dark tights and I think that it looks great. It is a bit light for Fall but I love how light dresses that are meant for summer look when worn with layers.
The leather jacket was purchased some time in September and was seriously one of the best buys I've made. It was exactly what I was looking for in a leather jack. Cropped sleeves, shrunken fit and cheap. Although it is faux, it really does it justice since it doesn't look or feel like it is.
The bag was actually one of those random buys that after purchase you were like "How did that happen?" I was walking out of Mudspot with my friend Danielle after lunch and I immedietly spotted something in the lower corner of my eyes and darted right for this bright multi-colored trunk bag with this string attached to it. It was sitting alongside bohemian knick knacks and indian inspired accessories.I pick it up and ask the lady who ows the shop right next door to Mudspot how much it was and she responds, to my astonishment, "$4.00". I turn to Danielle and she could tell of my excitement she says to me"Definitely get it" I couldn't care less that the thing looked like it belonged to a 70's stripper, something that I've been looking for and it costs $4.00 and I found it at a Manhattan boutique, that alone was worth owning.
I brought it home and painted it all balck which was no easy feat,because it had wavy multi colored stripes and panels.I added a velvet ribbon with an adjustable ring for the strap and viola!!! My very own, DIYed trunk bag.

Something that you guys should know about my absence as of late. For the last year since graduating from F.I.T. I was freelancing and doing a bunch of different projects and in general had more time than I was used to. Starting this blog was not only an outlet for creativity and anything fashion related but also one of my projects that I took on. I didn't quite fully divulge all my life's details just because I do believe in keeping some things to myself, and I guess doesn't leave me feeling so exposed as it can in the "blogosphere".Recently I've found something that has been taking up a lot of my time. A full time job. That being said its quite obvious where my time is being channeled. I am so grateful that I have readers and followers, who keep coming back to check up on this here blog and really give me incentive on updating more often than I do. I dedicate this post to you for being so awesome!!!

Post Script: There were many looks from this season's fashion weeks that I would just love to add but it was getting to be a little strenuous and tedious and I'm sure at this point any sort of media has covered it all.

Talk about mature apparel. So yes, I was being a bit harsh on Charlotte Ronson for going that route of making her collection look mature, but it's only because she lost her niche along the way. Whereas Erin hasn't lost it just is doing it gracefully. This is a bit mature compared to previous collections but its transitioning is done just right. Also I need that trench by Spring!!!

Is there something in the parisian waters? Because this collection looks like Isabelle Marant designed it and Hannah McGibbon just signed off on the designs and called it her own. Despite the similarity in aesthetic for this collection it is great, not amazing though. Because if we were gonna compare Hannah's first collection to this one its safe to say that the former is more "Chloe" than this season's collection is. It very much has the Parisian Chic aesthetic that Isabelle Marant is known for.From the use of neutrals and nudes to the menswear/oversized everything and the outdoors-y influences. Its hard to see the transition from the last collection to this one because they are so different but no matter what, anything Chloe produces is magical in my eyes.

Charlotte Ronson

Keeping up with the Charlotte girl gone haute, this season's collection was just that of a continuation from the last show. It's not the Charlotte Ronson we knew and loved but a Ready-to-Wear couture house. There are still some glimmers of what was once a distinguishable look from the designer.I don't dislike the collection it's just not what I used to love, but maybe change isn't so bad? It's just that you used to expect a certain feeling when seeing this show and you just don't get that familiarity anymore. Overall I think the palette is fantastic and the silhouettes are great, but (I reiterate) not what I would expect.

Balmain

I've never reviewed a Balmain collection on this blog before but I've recently come to notice that I've been attracted to disco era attire and this collection although not 70's in nature, has colors of the decade(or should I say decadence). The silhouettes are by no means retro but rather grecian and armor like as a Balmain collection should be. I was also most attracted to the usage of military coats/jackets.I've never really had a connection to the design house but they are starting to grow on me.You could see they really have a point of view and that is always admirable.

What hasn't been said about the downtown darling that I could possibly say. An ingenious collection right? A fascinating take on Varsity Inspiration? Whatever the comments he definitely has people's attention.I found the collection appealing but a bit of a departure for our young ingenue.If we look back at his collections we see a dark edgy mono-tonal collection with the exception of a few spurts of colors here and there.The varsity inspiration is somewhat strange when attached to his name don't you think? It's like the anti wang wang girl. Does that make sense? I mean before the wang girl was clad in leather and chains and all that but now she's the angel dressed in white? Its funny and its ironic and I suppose that's what the designer wanted. To keep us on our toes because how else is a downtown darling supposed to stay on top?

Spring/Summer 2010 Fashion Shows

Overall I've neglected to do a recap of all the shows during fashion week. New York and London have blown right by and not a single update was done on my part. It started in February, with a feeling of apatheticism(not sure if that's a word I made up) due to a somber mood because of the economy and a lacking of "wow" factor. This season I wasn't quite ready to be seeing a slue of spring/summer styles right when we just got out of a summer that wasn't quite summer-y.I don't know what it is this season but just starting to get into fall mode, I was completely distasteful to anything remotely related to Spring/ Summer. Fashion week always landed in the first weeks of September and its always right after Summer so I'm not sure why I can't seem to be bothered with this right now when I've done the opposite in the past. That being said there were some looks that I did find appealing despite the timing.

Anna Sui

Anna Sui's collection was exactly what you would expect from her collections. A little bit bohemian, a little bit edgy, and a little bit girly.That's what's great about Anna Sui, you know that regardless of what trends come and go she always has her aesthetic and she always remains consistent. The collection that she created for Target with "Gossip Girl" in mind, I think has transpired to her runway collection because you can definitely see the resemblance, just with one huge difference. Quality.

So I've been quite the neglectful blogger lately huh? I feel like I should apologize for being so sporadic with posts lately. Its just that I've been dealing with a bout of "lazy". I don't know what it is. Sometimes I get very inspired and post stuff everyday and other times I just fall into a hole and don't feel like doing it.There's no reason for it except my own faults.Many bloggers have stated this exact same thing saying that sometimes they feel like this is a full- time job and they don't want to feel like that because they started doing this for fun and it shouldn't feel like a chore. Although I don't agree with this completely I do however feel strained sometimes.

Well, moving on this was taken about a month ago(where we last left off). I went to meet up with a friend who comes and goes in my life but I love her dearly. Our lives are on separate tracks but sometimes we try to make them intertwine.

I've really been trying very hard not to do this now but it's consumed me. Fall has taken me into it's embrace and won't let me go.Many bloggers have been posting their wishlists, inspiration boards and fall purchases and I have done so as well. I didn't want to do this so early on in August but the truth is this time of year, every year I get the same way, wishing fall's arrival. However I really don't want to let summer go, just yet. It seems to have just so much as stayed for five minutes and made his departure before we could even hang out. It means that winter with all its might will be just around the corner.And I am so not ready for that.
Anyway looking at the general mood of this inspiration board, I realized that subconsciously I put together a board that has a main theme. Which would be delicate florals and dresses and heavy knits. I guess I have been gravitating a lot to a more feminine and ethereal look. I'm not sure why?
For fall I'm really into beige and gray knits, light florals,peter pan collars, pussybow ties,70's and edwardian dresses and a huge need for pink chiffon(especially after the death of my pastel lavender dress). Also a generous offer from my boyfriend sent me on a massive hunt for chloe silverado shoes. I have come to terms with the fact that they will never make it to me,until the aforementioned hunt.Now I want them more than ever!!! If anyone knows anywhere/anybody selling the brown Chloe Silverado shoes from A/W 2006 in a size 7.5 or 8 US please let me know. It would make me a really really happy girl.

A while back I made a visit to my local thrift store to see what new stuff they've received and I found some of the cutest dresses. Above are the prints of the dresses I've purchased.There was another dress that I had a hard time leaving at the store because it was the perfect combination of beige(which I actually came in looking for) and tribal. But I really loved the ones I picked and figured 3 dresses were enough.

This dress is the perfect item to just throw on when it's too hot and you don't feel like thinking about what to wear.Plus it has that 90's tribal vibe, which is what drew me to it in the first place.

So I've been on a pretty dead end hunt for a single pair of chloe shoes that are quite not attainable for 3 years now. What I did happen to feast my eyes on were these SEE X CHLOE combat boots.

Even though the "more affordable" label produced these awe inducing boots, they are still quite the hefty price tag. Retailing at $495.00 its a bit steep for a pair of "Doc Martens" and some Ankle straps with studs on them. I haven't seen anything like these out yet so I am really intrigued but it leads me to believe that these are really easily DIY-able. Possible future project? Looks like a thumbs up.

I met up with Tamar last Thursday. We went to Cafe Orlin then to get some self serve yogurt. Yup that's right you get to make that swirly thing all by your lonesome and you also get to add the toppings on your own. I put mango strawberry chocolate.Mine definitely did not come out like it's supposed to. Tasted normal though.

Magical Birthday Evening of Super Awesomeness

On July 6th it was my birthday. It was on a Monday. Being that I wanted as many of my friends to be able to make it to my party i decided to do it on that following Saturday, the 11th. I decided to do it at the one place I knew I would have an amazing time at.(Do I really need to state where? its a little obvious by now)It was probably the best birthday I've had in a while.A lot of my friends showed up and it was a really good night.Until I realized that I had burnt my own dress. At first I thought it was someone smoking that had done it, but alas no one in sight with a cigarette.It turns out that as I was standing on the bench for a mere of 2 seconds that created a couple not so subtle rings on my adorable little dress.I am devasted!!!!

On another note, I recently acquired these sandals on ebay due to the fact that my black ones were absolutely demolished(what's with me and ruining all my sandals?)I scoured Ebay in hopes of finding these out of stock pieces of heaven for your feet.The only thing was that they were only available in this pewter color.I would have preferred them in black, but beggars can't be choosers. I'm so happy with my decision to buy them because they were made for this dress and they kept me dancing all night without so much as an ounce of pain at the end of the night.

It's always a little weird to see someone else wearing a very very similar(and by similar, I mean exact)vintage piece that you own.When you purchase vintage you know that the chances of someone else owning an exact replica of that dress, skirt, blouse etc. is very minimal.You can imagine my disbelief when I saw these Cobrasnake photos. I immediately started giggling. In no way am I annoyed or upset about this. It's just really funny. I totally get that rampage didn't make only 1 of this dress in the 90's so naturally more than one are gonna surface. It happens, just rarely.

A while back my friend Danielle and I went to the Passion Pit show in Bowery Ballroom. They played with Shy Child and another band but we never made it to see the first band. It was a lot of fun. We actually made friends with some cool people from Toronto. After the show we went to meet up with my b/f and some friends and our new Toronto friends tagged along as well. We went to where else but Home Sweet Home being that it was literally right down the block. It wasn't as good as it normally is because the dj's who do the solid gold party there every saturday night were on tour so they had their friends come in and dj instead but it wasn't half as good as it normally is.I still had an awesome time though.We lost our new friends in the human shuffle that goes on there so we left and then went to Remedy diner in the lower east side.

White Party

Last fourth of July I went camping with a bunch of friends, this summer we were here and opted for a low key day. It's funny though because every time a big holiday weekend(fourth of july, labor day, memorial day)comes around, I always feel like you have to go away to truly feel like its a holiday weekend. Last year when we were gone, it didn't feel like it was the fourth at all(obviously no fireworks because we don't want to start any forest fires, right smokey)and being home this year, makes it feel right. I guess when it comes down to it, its all about where your used to being that makes it the holiday weekend.
On the fourth, I went to my boyfriends parent's house to have some bbq and to sit by the pool and get tipsy on wine. It was a great and awesome way to spend the day.
At night my boyfriend, myself and some friends went to the west village and wound up at sway. Weird dj(he kept putting music together that didnt really mesh well), but super fun!!! At one point we were walking to Sway and I didn't realize I where I was walking and I walked into a pothole, making me twist my leg. My leg was fine my sandal, not so much. One of the straps that wrap the toe area broke.Luckily we weren't far from a bodega and I could still walk in the sandal.I bought Super Glue and glued back together. I was still able to dance all night,totally saved my night!!!

This Polyvore collage all stemmed from a song that somehow wandered into my head and created a huge web chase to find the perfect unitard bycicle shorts combo. Granted there is no such thing that is meant to be worn on the street. So I googled the undergarment shapewear that you see above. How awesome would that be? A bustier onesie?? But I'm jumping ahead of myself. So this said song reminded me of Angelina Jolie's character in the 1995 cult classic "Hackers" because after all the song is from the movie's soundtrack(one hit wonder, yes please).The wardrobe in the movie were some note worthy fashion statements that seem to making a comeback.Although the movie is cheesy in today's standards, at the time(its probably because I was 12)it was a really edgy cool movie.Remember when Aol was America Online and it was totally wild that you could chat with people you never met before from the comfort of your living room?That's why.

On Thursday night I met up with my boyfriend after work and we went to get some dinner and then to a movie. We went to see "UP". It was thoroughly entertaining.I was really surprised at how moving a pixar movie could be.It did have some cheesy parts but it is a children's movie. After the movie we went to get some Pinkberry. It was a really sweet end to an adorable night.

For the longest time I've been looking for the old version of the Saltwater sandals(the ones with a buckle). I actually mentioned this sometime last year that my sandals from H&M were completely demolished

and I needed to replace them, which I did. A similar T-strap pair from Urban Outfitters.Which now I have no idea where they are.Anyways when I was scouring Ebay one day I came upon these. They were totally and completely meant to be mine.They are perforated with a few flower details and they are in a super light blush pink.

I was mostly intrigued by the dress because when I saw it, I thought what a perfect combination of floral and gingham. It would be the perfect dress to transition from an outdoor festival to a night out.It has a corset tie back and it is white and hunter green with hunter green embroidered flowers on it.

I will be leaving the country to go on vacation abroad tomorrow night for the next two weeks. Deciding what to wear on the plane is probably just as tough as figuring out what to pack. I put together a little polyvore compilation of essentials when traveling on a long flight(about 10 hours).You have to make sure that what you wear for most of the flight is comfortable enough to last you through the duration. I chose a palette of mostly black because that ensures you that if you do get stained it won't show as much as let's say a white T-shirt. I think a cozy sweater over a sweatshirt is more feminine and less sloppy.I picked ankle boots, because they look great with anything and again more put together than sneakers.For flights that are longer than 7 hours, its better to consider bringing a change of clothing because when you get off that airplane and re-connect with the world again, you don't want to feel like you've just been through a rough night(which you were but at least you don't want to look like it). Also a hat is great to keep your hair from getting that flatness that it gets from recirculated air.Water and lotion are essential for keeping hydrated on such a long flight.Entertainment is always necessary, I chose an ipod and a book because how can you go wrong with music to keep you relaxed and the book is actually the book that I bought that I will be reading. Its Dear Diary by Leslie Arfin. I've been curious about it since it came out, finally going to read it.
Anyways I'll be back in two weeks. Hopefully you all will be enjoying the beginnings of summer as well, with many trips and festivals and barbeques!!!

Remember those trunk bags that were around in the 90's? They even had a strap that latched on. I used to own two. One was leather and had caricature daisies printed on it.(You know, the daisies that their core had a smiley face?) and the other was a gunmetal one. Now that i think back, it was pretty bad ass!!!I'm really on the hunt for one and can't seem to find them. I found one a while ago on ebay, but ended up selling for way more than I cared to shell for this piece of nostalgic accessory.
I found the bag I'm carrying a looong time ago at Beacon's Closet and although it's more 50's than 90's it still has that lunchbox effect.I love how angular it is and how it juxtaposes against something so casual.
I actually put a photo of one of the listings in my inspiration folder.This is the one I just couldn't win.

As you can see we here, in New York, haven't been getting much of a spring/summer. Its been pretty wretched, actually. Right after I finished taking these photos, it started raining.I had to bring out my black tights again and all my rain gear because its been raining non-stop.My boyfriend was like "not those again?". At this point he's sick of seeing me in black tights, because that's really all I wear. I just wish it wasn't so extreme here. Right before it was really crappy out, it was so beautiful. It was high 70's and breezy and just perfect. I wish it could be like that 9/12 months, instead of the other way around. Once it's June, that's it, Hell finds it's nest here on earth and brings Mr. Humidity along with it.
Well aside from the rant on the weather, I had to run some errands and wanted to wear my skirt that i just recently hemmed.

As I was browsing the payless website to check out the collaboration with Alice+Olivia, what do I happen to have come across but 2 pairs of these wacky platform heels.The only thing that kept running through my mind was Parker Posey in Party Girl.It totally reminded me of the stylings of the mid-late 90's party retro girl. I finally gave in to temptation. I bought the faux wayfarer eyeglasses.I was walking to the train station on Broadway and Canal when the glasses caught my eye. I stopped to see what I would look like with them on, with no intention of buying them, when the sales lady told me she would give them to me for $8.00. I told her that I didn't want to purchase them when she continued negotiating with me. Finally she gave in and asked me how much I wanted to pay, when I told her a befitting amount that I would spend on something that might or might not sit in my drawer for the rest of eternity.I said "$5.00" and she with much hesitation said "okay" and there it was a pretty random, unintentional purchase.Fast forward 24 hours later I 'm wearing them to go out.Who'dathunk it?

I spent Saturday night with my friend Elie, went to Arrow Bar, then to meet up with some friends at a bar around the corner. It rained like crazy, it was hot and stuffy. It was awesome!!!

I've been given my own office in the MTV building in Times Square. It has made me realise this is all very real now, very real and very serious. Back in England when I worked on Popworld, Alex Zane and I used to pen our links in the dusty corner of a tape storage room before progressing to the more dignified surroundings of the local Irish pub. I liked it like that, I was used to it. From 23 floors up, if I crane my neck I can see all the flashing neon signs on 42nd Street from my window, it's ridiculous, I feel like I'm about to be found out.

Now that I've settled in a little (I have two sofas, a lamp and tomato ketchup in my fridge) I've started to enjoy the vibrant nightlife New York has to offer. I've also fallen into the trap of visiting the same bar pretty much every single night. It's underneath an innocent looking pizza place that is impossible to find unless you know it exists, once there you can spot most of the "Briteratti" (I did not coin this phrase, sadly) and at least one representative from every cool band huddled up in dim corners and redundant fireplaces guzzling down Jack 'n' Coke.

It seems to be the general rule in this city that no good bars or restaurants are ever obvious or on the beaten track, you always have to ring a buzzer or push a wall to get in. In the case of my favourite Mexican, La Esquina, you have to walk through a bustling kitchen and down a narrow corridor before being seated in a huge open cellar featuring every kind of tequila known to man.

On Friday Night I went to a bar called Home Sweet Home which weirdly contained the same stuffed stoats and tatty-looking sofas as, erm, I've got at home. A DJ played Sixties' girl group records about broken hearts and pining after somebody, and some bright spark instigated an impromptu limbo competition, using only his tie as the bar. I definitely haven't thought about the limbo since the Nineties.

That night I took on the role of limbo mascot and made it my job to encourage others to join in and get bending. I also began cheering on strangers in my booming voice. But I regretted it the next morning, when my sore throat rapidly developed into a full-blown cold, which makes it even harder for people to understand my accent.

I've taken to sporadically adopting an American accent at the tiniest hint of a problem, just to make sure things run smoothly. Hopefully this won't become a permanent habit.

In keeping with the ongoing saga of too many cooks (dogs) spoiling the broth (apartment building), yesterday I saw another grumpy looking canine fall down a flight of stairs. I didn't know dogs ever fell down things. I felt so sorry for him and it made me rethink my resentment of living in a building overrun with man's best friend. Maybe I'm just jealous because I don't have one; a dog, not a best friend. Although once my mate Tennessee leaves next week, best friends will be a bit thin on the ground. Oh God, time to get a TV...

First off I have to say Charles Anastase's collection was INSANE!!! not in bad way but not in a good way either.These three looks (and a few others)were probably the most demure and wearable out of the whole collection. The collection as a whole seemed like it was straight out of some horror punk movie, with the addition of dirty faces, torn and dirty tights and shoes.Although freakish, it still maintained the aesthetic that an Anastase girl looks for. Edgy and girly combined to one look.

What can you say about Parisian Chic. Women love it and girls want to have it.I think any girl can vouch when I say that to have a parisian elegance is to achieve fashion bliss. This collection in a nutshell is that very essence. With all the crazy embellishments and gaudiness we see everywhere else, to see this collection is like a sigh of relief.

After 2 seasons in with Hannah MacGibbon, I can finally say "Welcome Back Chloe".This collection proves that after a few puzzling collections since the absence of Pheobe Philo, we can rest assured her protege can and will maintain Chloe's pedigree.
A few things I have to point out:
1.THE MAKE UP!!!!-oh my gosh, that make up is amazing. You can really see that the Chloe girl is moving on and progressing into a woman whose matured and sophisticated just by the make-up alone.Which is what I think Hannah had intended. Shes not trying to be Pheobe Philo, but trying to continue the path.
2.BLACK VELVET OVERALLS!!!!-who wouldn't want those?
3.THE SHOES!!!-what is a chloe collection without stand out shoes?

I'm sure this isn't new. I'm sure anyone who cares to see this has already done so but I have to say that those shoes are heaven sent!!! Oh my gosh they're lust worthy!!!
About a month ago I purchased a pair of black leather wedge sandals that are very reminiscent of the Twelfth street Cynthia Vincent sandals that were and still are super popular. They also look very much like these. I was super stoked to have ended up keeping them after seeing The chloe Sevigny version.

Sugar and Spice and everything nice!!! Erin Fetherston does it again. I don't know what it is, but the girl can do no harm in my eyes.I'm a sucker for girly looks and amid all the dark and moody looks coming from every other designer it really is a breath of fresh air.She knows her client and she know what to give them, and she really does keep it consistent. The mime-y influence and the masks are a little random but maybe the whole idea behind the collection is masquerade and who doesn't love getting dressed up?

This time around Alexander Wang's collection didn't really do it for me. Overall it was okay but honestly I wasn't too moved by it. Compared to his last Fall/Winter collection its a bit boring. Maybe I just don't get the whole cut-out in different variations thing.The biker shorts trend is awesome though. I had a huge feeling that these will come back but definitely not for Winter that's for sure. I don't know about you but there's no way I'll be wearing biker shorts with tights when its 15 degrees outside.These three looks would have to be my favorites of the whole collection.

It seems that Catherine Holstein knows Fall/Winter attire really well because even though her Spring/Summer collection really hit it big with the critics I wasn't too fond of it. Maybe it was the heavy head pieces she put on the models or the comparison to Super Mario Brothers, something just didn't click for me with that collection. This collection on the other hand is really be-witching. I absolutely love the dark elements and the combination of crushed velvet and chiffon. Aside from the Purple Pants, nothing in the collection is really innovative or fresh, even right down to the black lips. However it hits all the right trends without it being shoved down your throat, which is fresh in it's own right.

So Fashion week has come and gone and I didn't so much as update a single post and I'm absolutely ashamed at myself. Although I have to say I have felt a bit somber about the whole thing being that its been quite the lackluster fashion week ever. The clothes, the parties, the presentations, all so somber.I didn't have time during the week to keep posts going and I could very well put all my favorite looks into one collage but thats like asking who is the better olsen twin. You just can't do that.
So I will as done in the past dissect each collection
I was most drawn to.

Now coming back to the last post I mentioned Charlotte Ronson's new collection to be quite different. Which would be an understatement. I have seen designers' departures from previous collections but this would have to be a catapult of change to what we are used to seeing coming from Charlotte Ronson. I love the dandy-ness of the plaid pants outfit and the faux fur lined "amelia aerheart" vest matched with a plaid dress. Which is a hint of the old Charlotte we've seen in the past but the rest of the collection, with all the heavy blacks and leathers, it like looking at a proenza schouler or balmain collection. I can understand the need to get an older target clientele but it took the Charlotte girl and made her a damn woman with sex appeal and a rendezvous in a seedy motel in the wee hours of the night with a seedy man.
They even managed to make the too cute to handle Anabelle-Dexter Jones a sexy leather skirt wearing woman with all cute-ness gone out the window.Theres parts to the collection I loved and theres some that left me feeling a bit damaged because the girl we looked to for sweet, adorable and girly has departed and left a woman of the night in her place. I just hope this isn't going to stick around for future campaigns. I want my charlotte back!!!

What I've spent on shoes the past two months is a little bit ridiculous. I don't know what came over me but all of a sudden I had the desire to own every shoe known to man. Its kind of scary thinking about a possible addiction arising, but as with all addicts deny, deny, deny!!!! So I will. plus I've vowed to not purchase any more shoes till....March. HeHeHe.Okay so moving on... I was browsing Nine West when I found the Cuzzah boots seen all over Jenny Humphrey's little guerilla fashion show two months ago. They were ridiculously on sale so I had to purchase them but not after a bit of mulling it over. I started thinking about how they would look great with an all black outfit for a true New York look and possibly with my red plaid tights or cheetah print leggings. I had to buy them, so I did and they are seriously the most comfortable heels I own, and I can really vouch that, because although I would die to be one of those girls that can walk around in heels all day without a problem, I'm not. These are really my answer to that dilemma. I can walk from Herald Sq. to Canal Street without a problem(okay maybe some slight pain, but dude, thats like a mile and a half).
I also finally got the Charlotte Ronson Beatrice boots. I got them in Black as you can tell although seeing Tennessee Thomas in the brown ones makes me think I might have made the wrong decision.They look so adorable on her but then again she can make saddle shoes ultra cool so I can't really take her as an example.

I have really come to find a huge crush for Charlotte Ronson. I adore her campaign videos, her girly frocks, her super adorable step sister Annabelle Dexter-Jones and ever since getting the shoes, her shoe collection.
Which leads me to another post entirely on Fashion Week. But thats a horse of a different color, if you know what I mean.

The coat I'm wearing is something that I've been looking for since last year. It was in forever21 when I wanted to get it but I didn't get it on the spot and as forever21 does, it didn't last. It sold out rather quick. Fast forward a year later, I'm at Buffalo Exchange selling clothes to clean out some of the stuff I haven't worn in a while(Ebay, with it's selling fees really does leave you feeling kind of broke)got me a pretty decent chunk of change to work with at the store. I was so stoked to find this dress in pretty mint condition and for no money at all.That being said it was the highlight of my week.

I haven't done an Ebay Finds post in a really long time. I've noticed that there are more and more clog/sandal hybrids popping up. We saw them on the Luella A/W 08 runway, and we saw them again on Ruby Aldridge wearing a pair of Jeffrey Campbells in the Urban Outfitters Fall catalog and various other brands are also picking up on the trend. There's something about them that reminisce the 70's and the other part reminisces a Nordic feel to them as well. Maybe I've been heavily influenced by both too much to sway me with this trend. The light brown leather ones on the bottom are mine and I've worn them everywhere. They offset a color combo of black and white really well and they are quite adaptable to every outfit.They add just a hint of a retro feel to any outfit and just the right amount of girly-ness to a grungy outfit.

I was so busy yesterday that I completely didn't realize that it was this blog's 1st anniversary. I started this blog 1 year ago yesterday and it seems like its only been a few months. It has grown so much over the last year and I only hope it keeps growing. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that my style inspiration is Chloe Sevigny. She's plenty of girls' icon and she rightfully wears the crown.Although I usually derive my inspiration from girls on the street and street style blogs, she's one celebrity that I can undoubtedly, without shame say shes my icon. I truly believe she is my fashion counterpart. She coasts through different styles all the time. Whether it be grungy or really girly, feminine outfits or the mix of both in one. She's nailed the 90's resurgence right on the head and some can even debate that she had brought the style back entirely on her own. When her opening ceremony line came out critics were so against the 90's trends coming back but low and behold its here and we even have this generations CKOne ad to prove it.
Although she is in her 30's and doesn't dress her age, she makes ageless dressing seem like no big deal. If she could pull off looks that don't confine to one's age, then she gives hope to other girls to do the same. Who said if you're 30 you have to look 30.
There hasn't been a visit to TheFashionSpot: Chloe Sevigny without me uttering "I Love This Girl". She truly is an icon.

WHAT I’M WEARING NOW I have a path of vintage shops in the East Village that I walk around to. The dress is from one them — Atomic Passion, I think. It was really long, like most Edwardian and Victorian dresses, and I cut off one of the tiers. The cardigan is part of my fall collection for Opening Ceremony. It has wool elbow patches and nice, big pockets to shove your hands into when you’re feeling awkward or insecure. My Chanel purse was a Christmas present to myself. It’s like playing Tetris trying to fit all my stuff in it. The boots are an old pair of Prada’s, and the tights are from the Sock Man. I love that place, but the guy’s the grumpiest man on earth. He’s like the Soup Nazi, but he sells socks.

STYLE CREDO I’m not feeling these modern, futuristic looks. It’s too hard. I love a frilly floral, and I always will. And I like minis. I tried to do a pencil skirt, but it looked too old. Lately I’ve been trying to dress sexier, but my version is still a little sad and frumpy and alternative. I get concerned that I don’t dress age appropriate, but at 34, I figure I can still pull it off for a couple more years.

MY INSPIRATION The kids I see on the street. Sometimes I sit in Tompkins Square Park and just check out all the looks. I recently got this book “Skins & Punks.” It really inspired my new collection. And my own style — I just bought a pair of cherry red Doc Martens.

ON MY WISH LIST Perfect jeans. After all these years, I still haven’t found them. Right now I’m looking for some light blue ones for spring.

Something about the holidays always makes me think of two things Charlie Brown and Home Alone. My boyfriend and I were watching t.v. one day last week and wound up on the part where McCauly Culkin's character orders a pizza and the pizza boy comes to deliver the pizza and he puts on the movie and the exchange between the pizza boy and the way he plays the movie to fit right in is classic. I love that part.

Anyway my friends and I went to a holiday party a couple of weeks back at some bar on the west side. I felt festive and had just purchased this dress and I thought it was appropriate because of it's shimmer. It totally reminded me of the Erin Fetherston Autumn/ Winter 2008 collection.

A couple of weeks ago I went to a Ting Tings show with Airborne Toxic Event and the Duke Spirit. It was one of the better shows I've been to this year. I just purchased the new Sebastian Tellier's capsule collection for American Apparel Long Tunic/Dress T and omg you have to touch this thing. It feels amazing on.The fabric is so drapey and loose and just the perfect fabric for what I was looking for.I also felt like debuting my leopard leggings and newly studded boots. I topped it off with a lipstick red quilt bag.
P.S. I cut my hair a couple of weeks ago too.

I purchased a pair of ankle boots that were a bit on the boring side but when I tried them on I had put the ankle strap of my riding boots on them and they brought the boots to an edgier level. When I got home with them I figured it would be kind of stupid if i had to keep changing the strap every time I wanted to wear them. I needed to get them their own strap. So hence came the idea of studding the strap.
What you will need:

A pair of old or new boots that need revamping.

A pair of scissors that can cut through thick leather.
A hammer
A screwdriver(or hole machine, if you have one) to make the holes on the strap
2 buckles(make sure they fit the width of the strap.
About 40 studs (I mixed pyramid and round studs, but you can do it all the same)
About 2 yards of leather strap( you can choose how wide you would like it to be)
A sewing machine or glue
And if you're working on the floor which I would suggest then a board strong enough to take a bit of hammering.

Step 1: Cut the strap the length you want.
Step 2:Slide the buckle through the strap. Leave some room for the fold back. (You will need to secure the buckle later on)
Step 3: Start adding the studs. Seperate them in equal distribution. It doesn't have to be exact just proportionate. Hammer them to make sure they are secure.

Step 4: Leave room at the end for the holes. make 3 holes for the buckle to fasten.
Step 5: Make a hole for the buckle's tooth to go in through.
Step 6: Take the fold back(or excess by the buckle) and fold it back to sew or glue on.(I don't recommend gluing it because it might break loose)
Step 7: Fasten the strap around your shoes.
Repeat steps for opposite shoe.
Your shoes now have more personality.

If your like me and have loved the Balenciaga Day Bag since 2004 when it emerged on the fragile arms of one Kate Moss then you are too having a dilemma with this bag so randomly named "Layne" by forever21. The dilemma being that there's an issue of price vs authenticity.The price tag for the original if you are lucky enough to score because its extinction since 2005 is in the 1200's. The price tag for the forever21 version is merely $35.00. I most definitely will not shed about $1200 for a bag but I won't want to be walking around with an absurdly faux leather bag, which is a sad excuse for the original.On the other hand I do want to fulfill my desires of this bag. Another deciding factor is having a surge of girls walking around with the same bag, which comes with the territory for purchasing at forever21.Do I let it go or bite the bullet? I guess we will see.

This outfit makes me think of the English countryside. Even though I've never been, this is so something I would wear if I was to go. I wore this for a lazy sunday afternoon spent walking around, going to second hand stores and having lunch at a cafe.

I just purchased this coat this a little while ago. It was an amazing find because I was really so close to purchasing the babydoll coat from Old Navy. It totally fulfills all my princess coat necessities.I've been looking for a babydoll coat for a while now and found this one at an american aparel store by way of california select(how random?). Apparently the brooklyn flagship store carries California Select Vintage. Its Rothschild and very girly. You can't tell from the photos but on the pocket flaps and the hood there is a layer of velvet. Also on the hood there is a trim following the outline of the hood. It is really adorable. I'll take a photo of it the next time I do an outfit post.

For the longest time I've been feinding for a chunky platforms or wedges. In the summer I wanted a wedge sandal that was chunky but instead I found a pair of wedges that were a bit on the not so chunky side because they were on sale and super cute. Now my cravings have come back. Now more than ever have I wanted something so bad. I've been encountering chunky platforms all over. They are in editorials, in blogs,on runways. We'll see where it takes me and what finds I can come up with. I would absolutely die for the stella mccartney wedges, in mary jane form or ankle bootie form. Or the sonia rykiel wedges, theyr so what I've been looking for.
On a side note: my camera has been acting kind of funny lately so I haven't been able to make any outfit posts lately but hopefully this problem should resolve itself soon.

Last Monday my friends and I went to go see coldplay. It was a great show(although I really don't like stadium shows) this was pretty good. It was very chilled out and they are really tight with their sound.They had a few surprises like glow and the dark confetti and a dance re-mix to a slow song that sounded pretty amazing.

The weather has changed so drastically since I left for my trip that I went from just wearing sweaters to full on layers of clothes.I'm in such denial that fall isn't so much lingering as its just kind of blowing by(literally). We've been having some crazy wind storms. I love Autumn but not this kind of Autumn. One that is crisp but still warm enough to just walk out with just a really chunky sweater.We have had a few of those days lately but more often than not just really windy, rainy weather.

After what seemed to be a really short vacation(i feel like it wasn't two weeks at all)I'm back into the swing of the things, and glad to be back to blogging. while I was gone I received two packages that I was super excited about getting. Remember how I was on a bend for Victorian White Lace dresses? Well I finally found one that fits and is absolutely adorable.

Also I've been searching for the perfect briefcase(because the on i have is just too small).Ever since Alexa Chung was photographed with hers during Fashion Week I've been even more on the hunt for it because I knew that there weren't going to be any available because everyone is going to be grabbing them up. So I found this one which is was one of very very few that the gussets actually fastened(many just fastened with clips and snaps).I hoped to have gotten a strap to go with it too but i guess i could always use the strap from the old one.

Both items were a lot more than i had actually intended on spending but i figured that these were very limited pieces and there's not that many out there yet.

This outfit is probably one of the most comfortable work outfits I've worn.The shorts although they look a bit restricting, they aren't. They're made from this stretchy rayon fabric that are superb.They give a pretty flattering shape and are great with tights. From a distance it even looks like a skirt. Anyway between the Lived-in T the shorts and the slouchy cardigan this looks screams casual chic. I love it. I wish I could wear it everyday.

I've been lagging on keeping posts up to date. I'll try harder to be more on top of that. I wore this fall look to work.I purchased this dress on a thrifting trip i made about a month ago. I thought I was over purchasing more floral dresses. Turns out I can't get enough of them.For some, florals are already getting to be this annoying thing that won't go away but for me I just keep racking 'em in. I can't help it. It's like going to the candy store and not sampling at least one.When I go to the thrift store its required of me to buy at least one floral dress.
