FlashBack Don't

Is this the first signs of the ever so dreadful fluffy scrunchie trend?
Photobucket
I sure hope not because that is one '90's trend I can re-live without.
Note:The scrunchies are from Forever21

Inspiration: The Edge of Love

The Edge of Love is a new movie coming out with Sienna Miller and Kiera Knightly. Its about "Two feisty, free-spirited women are connected by the brilliant, charismatic poet who loves them both."then drama ensues. i'm not sure exactly what the plot line is really about but it looks very intense.
Anyways this movie is being iconicized not because of it's story line but because of it's styling. The English and Welsh countryside in the 1930's&40's is the inspiration for the styling. And it is making me lust for late summer/early fall by the country side.

The New Addition

Photobucket
This was taken last week before my trip. I just didn't get around to posting it. My new bag came a while ago in this cute little package.

(this last photo came out really dark so I tried to fix it but it made it really contrast-y)
I wore this out for a day in the city and to do some errands. It was a very nice day out but still kind of hot and humid so I wanted a no-fuss outfit that would be very breezy and this dress I normally wear with a tank or t underneath but I just wanted something that would be light. This dress was also last summer's staple.I love the sailor details on the yoke and how light it is.

The season has begun and my friends and I are going camping. I went last year and had an amazing time. Right before I went, Tokyo Police Club came out with this video and got me psyched to go. The styling of the video was new england school perfection, it made me lust for fall(it was also my inspiration for all of Fall '07). Although we're quite the distance from fall, I'm sure after seeing this video you're gonna be fiending for your silken scarf in no time.
Oh and it also doesn't hurt that they so have my H&M sandals (in red)that are destroyed, which I'm totally bringing with me.(check 00:07 & 00:08 seconds)

Well I'm off for the weekend......

Ebay Dresses & New Shoes

Photobucket

When I recieved this dress, I tried it on and immediately realized the length was too short to be a dress. I'm assuming it might have been a girl's dress and I somehow miscalculated the given length in the description of the item. Given this predicament I was in I immediatly thought to my closet to think what I could pair it with so it doesn't seem so short. I thought of "THE WHITE SKIRT". The same skirt I featured a couple of posts ago and a couple of posts before that. All my slips or dresses didn't fit the puffed out silhouette of the dress, it was strange. The skirt and it's puffy silhouette was the perfect solution.

So remember I told you the seller for the previous dress was so sweet, she gives all her first time buyers a free gift. This was the free gift I recieved. An Amazing Vintage 90's buttonfront floral dress. The belt I added to accessorize the dress, although it doesn't really need it. By the way, did you see the back? Isn't it wonderful?

Bicycle & DIY

I just got a new bike for my birthday(which is on sunday next week). I've been on the hunt for a Roberto Pie inspired bike for a long time now but nothing that is semi-decent priced. I really wanted a bike with fenders on the wheels but the ones that I did finally find was the only one they had in the store and it had a flat and I didn't love the colors that much(red and white). Also a lot of bikes I did look into also with fenders didn't have handle brakes. They all had cruiser brakes which are on the pedal, kind of dangerous if you don't know how to use 'em. This bike had a handle brakes and a fender on the chain(it's on the other side) but the handle bars are amazing, they are so comfortable to ride with. You don't have to perch forward to reach for them. They let you ride in an upright position, its great!!! My friend(the one with the city cruiser) and I went last week to a $.99 store to find fake flowers so we could decorate our baskets. When I finally got my bike this past Friday I purchased a basket(which comes off of it's stand and you can take it with you wherever). I really wanted a wicker basket, but the one they had compared to the metal one, wasn't sturdy. I placed the flowers I purchased on my basket for a feminine, girly, hippie feel to the bike. It is still kind of bare, so I'm thinking to add a little bit more to it and maybe a cover for the inside, we'll see.
DIY
What you will need:
- Pliers(really tough one)
-fake white flowers
- fake butterflies
Photobucket
Step 1: Cut the stems off the flowers. Each individual stem can be used to wrap around the basket bar/wicker.
Step 2: Keep twining the wires around until you've reached the amount you feel is necessary.
Photobucket
Step 3: Cut the butterflies out of their branch and keep them on their individual stem, with flowers still attached. Twine the butterflies around the bar/wicker. Add as many as desired.

New Soul in the Park

Last weekend(not this past), I went to go see Yael Naim & David Donatien in Central Park. It was for SummerStage. A free events organization in NYC during the summer. So basically this show was free. It was amazing!!! Especially being outside, during dusk when the sun is just about gone, and night is slowly creeping in. It was magical!!!

Here We Go Again

Heres a Polyvore inspiration post that is an extension from the last post....

I wish I had some of these pieces. Like that dress, it's not quite floral and its not quite paisley. Its also on the verge of goth but I think thats why I'm drawn to it.
And chokers?? Seriously when was the last time you saw/wore chokers?
I'm still dying to get those Topshop sandals so I could scrunch up some over the knee socks with them. I'm waiting for them to go on some slight sale then maybe I'll get them.

Jump Around

I wore this out for a night at some bars on the Lower East Side.
Note: I went digging in the back of my closet(literally) for this denim jacket that I haven't seen since probably the early 2000's. I thought it was the perfect addition to finish off this look.
