Ruffian, Jovovich-Hawk, Rachel Comey

Ruffian....

Most of the collection was pretty and feminine and there was this sweater coat thing that Agyness Deyn wore that was just amazing and executed the modeling of it perfectly but these pieces were just plain gorgeous!!!! To me these just stood out. The blouse on Irina L. is breathtaking. It reminisces a little victorian. The whole outfit on Tanya D. is just perfection.

Jovovich-Hawk....

In this collection of Jovovich-Hawk theres an array of dresses and outfits that you can wear for day and night. Like the long woolen dress paired with the cobalt blue belt that can easily be worn for work or for a romantic dinner with your man. The salmon colored button front dress could be worn to go shopping with your friends during the day and then straight to a loft party later that night. Versatility is key in clothing these days because everyone wants the ability to just be able to throw on some jewelery and some heels for the night and be set to go out. On the other hand you have that Fuschia dress with silk stripes just screaming '80's prom meets 2008. I absolutely love the modern take on the '80's dress.

Rachel Comey.....

Rachel Comey is a new designer. The collection she showed wasn't anything innovative or new but she executed it well and gave us some great prints. And what about that sweater belt combo? Isn't it just delish? And the shoes are just to die for!!!!

DKNY

Anyone that knows me knows I am a sucker for floral prints. When I checked out the new DKNY collection I was floored. My mouth open gaped and my eyes popping out of my head.
I'm usually skeptical about Donna Karen's collections. She usually delivers but not to my taste buds. This time around she's got it!!!! Every piece is just screaming "let's roll around in the leaves together."

The colors, the textures, the prints, they are everything an Autumn wardrobe should look like. I could easily see myself in this

Erin Fetherston....

What can I say about Erin Fetherston. She is my style personified. She took everything that was chaotic and confusing in my mind and made it a visual personification. What else can i say except to just let the clothes speak for themselves......

The rich colors and textures of the fabrics are perfect for winter. They're so ethereal and romantic that only Erin can do.
This is what she had to say about her collection.....

New York Fashion Week Begins.......

It's only been two days and already midtown is a frenzy with photographers, celebrities, models, designers, photo bloggers, socialites, IT girls and of course the fashion.

Young designer Cat Holstein brought a sexy, cute, girl-y librarian look to the table. Her designs are nothing short of adorable. Everything is made Ready-to-Wear. I would probably wear every single piece in the collection.

My favorite is the yellow cardigan with the blue and black jacquard skirt with the peach T-shirt.

Newcomer Alexander Wang delivered a collection what looks to be influenced by his fashion counterpart/stylist/muse Erin Wasson. Monochromatic, androgynous, edgy, hard, soft and very wearable.

My favorite is the empire vest with the skirt/dress combination. (3rd one down from the top). You could easily wear the two together or combine them with everything in your closet. Although I'm not so sure about the exposed metallic zipper on the crotch of the pants. I think the collection on the whole was intended to be that way. Kind of like how the The Row is meant to be. Take that black skirt and make it into a tube top and add a leather skirt to it. Take that vest and put it over a dress, etc.

Channeling Courtney Love.....

For some Sunday laziness I was feeling girly but grungy so I chose this concotion for some fun in some unseasonable warm weather:

Sweater: fluffy beaded cardigan from a couple of years ago that hasn't seen daylight in about that long.
Dress: white tank dress from Forever 21
Slip: Blush Pink slip from Forever 21
Tights: black opaque sweater knit tights
Boots: Navy blue schoolboy ankle boots
My friend and I discovered it was beautiful out so we decided to head outside to do some fun shopping and chilling and munching. I found these awesome oxfords. Although I was saving myself for my first pair of oxfords to be the Chloe Silverado platform oxfords from A/W '05, I just couldn't leave these little darlings in the store.

After my amazing purchase we went to get some food at Max Brenner.A famous chocolatier in NYC. We got a delicous cheese plate filled with expensive cheeses, fruit and bread with some cofee to wash that down and for dessert we got a delicous chocolate soufle with the most delectable chocolate you have ever tasted. I hope to have more days like today. It was a good way to prep me for the cluster f**k that is New York Fashion Week.
I love this crazy town!!!!

SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER.........

So I went to dinner on Saturday night, nothing big, I came down with a bit of a cold on Friday night so I just laid low Saturday night. But i couldn't figure out what to wear so I tried a couple of options because that's what I always do.So just because I was feeling under the weather doesn't mean I shouldn't look good. I had two options........

option 1:

Sweater: cream grandma cardigan from Beacon's Closet
Dress: black tent dress w/ flutter sleeves
Tights: gray cable sweater knot tights
Shoes: Chloe mary jane wedges
Bag: Lipstick red quilt chan link bag

option 2:

Sweater: cream cardigan purchased at the bargain bin at Old Navy
T-shirt: old vintage inspired t form Target.
Skirt: Button down puff skirt purchased at urban outfitters last April but worn high waisted.
Tights: black opaque sweater tights
Shoes: Chloe Mary Jane wedges

I ended up going with option #1 because it was better fitting for the occasion. Option # 2 was channeling the new Cat Holstein line (will post more on that soon).Just sayin'....

Ebay Find 1.

I have been looking for a brown pair of ankle pixie boots for the longest time. They go perfect with opaque tights, over the knee socks and in the summer you can go bear with a pretty floral dress.
i was looking all over ebay for the perfect pair but nothing ever really got my heart-a-racing until these......

i put my finger to work and won these babies, fair and square.
i can't wait till they get here.....posts will follow.....stay tuned!!!!!

School's in for the summer

i saw this girl when i going through the cobrasnake.com and i fell in love with her schoolgirl attire. i loved the way she took a school uniform and made it so chic. She inspired me to look for a similar pinafore dress and i found this one on delias a while back. this would be perfect with a vintage tee and a pair of over the knee socks and some old raggedy loafers i've had for years. Pair it with a satchel and you'll be skipping to school, work, play in to time.
I wasn't able to purchase it at the time and now its not on the web anymore, i've looked on ebay but they are all very small (being they are girls' school uniforms.)
Does anyone knows where i can find a similar pinafore?

***UPDATE***: I found the pinafore on delia's clearance section and i also found one on e-bay.

Not your grandma's sweater anymore

I wore this outfit to go to dinner and drinks in the LES:
the sweater is cream (purchased at beason's closet, second hand vintage)
I purchased this dress some time in the summer but never really knew what to make of it.It was originally ankle length and had a slit and was sleeveless. i wish i had taken a "before" picture because it looks completely different now. (a pic of just the dress will soon follow) I shortened it and from the excess fabric I made puff sleeves.
Sweater:Vintage cream grandma cardigan(purchased second hand)
Dress: has a ditsy floral print (purchased second hand)
Bag:is a lipstick red chain link quilt bag (purchased on ebay)
Tights: opaque sweater knit tights
Shoes:Chloe mary jane wedges that i live in when going out. (purchased at a sample sale)

Update:
