I Just Came Here To Dance

PhotobucketPhotobucket
My boyfriend and I and some of our friends went out to a bar in the East Village for some good tunes and dancing.
Which reminds me about another time completely....so the previous post I completely forgot about this but I just remembered now. So me and my friend went to Lit as one of our destinations. We stayed there for a beer. I went to the bar to get myself and my friend a drink and she stayed behind to man our seats. So I ordered from this bartender, mind you I haven't had a drip of alcahol at this point yet, one mixed drink and when he came back I asked him for a beer. I told him I was gonna pay seperatly. My friend gave a 20 dollar bill so I gave him that first and he gave me change back, and then I paid for my beer, which I needed change for as well. When he returns back to the bar, he proceeds to throw away the beer that I had just ordered. I gesture to him to not the throw the beer away and he asks for the $6.00 again. I told him that I had just paid for the beer, he told me no you just paid for the mixed drink. I said no I had told you I was gonna be paying seperatly and I gave you a twenty for the mixed drink and a 10 for the beer. He had absolutely no recollection of it at all. Like as if I was dealing with Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde. It went on like that for about 5 minutes until he finally let it go, as if he was doing me the favor. I was so upset about it. He actually thought I was trying to weasel my way into getting a drink for free. I understand at a dive bar that kind of stuff happens but I was never accused of stealing ever, so it really got to me. It didn't help that the guy was such an asshole about it. I couldn't believe he wanted to charge me another 6 dollars for no reason at all. I was so annoyed. I needed to vent that, I forgot about it and haven't told anyone.

This outfit was again, a multi purpose outfit for which I was going to school and didn't necessarily have plans for after my late class but me and a friend, in the same class as I, always end up doing something after. We ended up going to get some amazing pizza in the East Village and then off to a bunch of bars on the Lower East Side. We had such a great night. I had soo much fun.

Coco Rocha

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
AAAhk!!! I've been dying to tell someone all day but I just saw Coco Rocha today heading eastbound on the L train. She looked flawless and gorgeous but soooo normal. She was not dressed like a model. Very business casual in wide leg trousers and a trench I think. Oh my gd but that skin and hair, just flawless.

Evolution of the Plaid Skirt

As any girl that grew up in the '90's knows that Clueless is probably one of the biggest cult movies to come out of the 90's. The wardrobe in that movie is quite covetable. One of the skirts adorned by a once "chunky" little Brittany Murphy or Tai(or Tye?)Fraiser is one of my favorites.
Photobucket

I've found one is that is so uncanny on ebay but lost it to it's wayy over my budget auction. Apparently there are other girls out there that feel the way I do and Norma Kamali is till a big deal, I guess??

And then saw Spain's very stylish Trini aka toutlamode wearing this outfit....

and then opened forever21's page to find what looks to be an exact replica of Trini's skirt. Mysterious indeed!!!

Hello 2005

I was going through some Mgmt videos on youtube and somehow fell into a 'tubehole and came out with this video which brought me back to 2005.

This Vid came my way in 2005 and in some miraculous way I was introduced to one painfully gorgeous Chan Marshall, who has an equally gorgeous voice. This is a Dirty Three's song featuring Chan Marshall as vocals but after that I was hooked to some aching good soul.(the video's definition is meant to be that way, completely blurry)
This is by far probably the best version of Wonderwall, well since Oasis.

The vid is not the official video for the track but still has some unbelievably beautiful shots.

Books Not Necessary

Photobucket

So remember this post? Well it hasn't been that long but I get the feeling that my premonition is correct. With the hype and return of Gossip Girl to regular airing there has definitely been a surge of preppy style amongst fashionable kids(guys and girls alike). I am not an avid watcher but the styling on the show is undeniably sharp. One can't argue with that. But back when I first came upon the photograph of the girl on the cobrasnake, waayy before the Gossip Girl return to television and rejuvinated urge for prep, I fell head over heels in love with this photograph. From the girl's pose, to her clothes(which I need not see the rest of the outfit because I could already imagine its perfection). I absolutely had to find a school uniform jumper dress. I searched and found some, but by that time my urges have dissipitated, and kind of forgot about it. But then with some kind of gust of wind like realization I finally got around to purchasing the dress.

Intimate Affair

Photobucket
Photobucket

Photobucket
Last night one of my friends had gotten engaged and she was having a toast at her parent's house. Of course it wasn't quite the intimate affair she said it was gonna be but thats besides the point. Anyhow, I wore this outfit but as my boyfriend and I were about to walk up the stairs to the house I suddenly had an attack of overdressed remorse. I started to doubt if I was too overdressed. Luckily I wasn't. PHEW!!! I seriously love this dress. I laid my eyes on it and just knew it belonged in my vast closet. But it seriously can work for any occasion(hence why I can't understand why I mysteriously came down with this a case of remorse). I've worn this to school with a pair of flats and I've worn this to go out to a bar. I love how it translates as a vintage '30's/ '40's dress but in reality isn't(not even a little bit). I am hesitant to say where it's from just from the sheer humility I will acquire from you guys, but it is because this store is in no way fashion forward. It is actually quite the opposite. This store is the epitome of lackluster fashion and serves "trendy" pieces to the masses. The store in question is none other than Charlotte Russe. Yup thats right, it just goes to show that jems can be found in the most surprising of places, and never omit the possibilities.

I just purchased this dress from ebay and it came a bit too long, and big. I always say i need to take more before pictures so here they are.Although the dress looks kind of cute long it was a little overbearing on my frame so I had to make it more youthful and fun. I shortened the hem and the sleeves too. but now that I am looking at these pictures I think I might need to fix the bust as well. What do you think?

Multi-Functional

On Thursday night my friend was going to be playing an acoustic show at a Lower East Side bar, but I had a class that was gonna be running till 10 pm(if you remember). I needed to find an outfit that was going to serve as a Day look as well as a Night look. I was already carrying the heels in my bag and I didn't feel like carrying a whole other outfit, which I do sometimes but today I wasn't in the mood.
