Ebay Dresses & New Shoes

When I recieved this dress, I tried it on and immediately realized the length was too short to be a dress. I'm assuming it might have been a girl's dress and I somehow miscalculated the given length in the description of the item. Given this predicament I was in I immediatly thought to my closet to think what I could pair it with so it doesn't seem so short. I thought of "THE WHITE SKIRT". The same skirt I featured a couple of posts ago and a couple of posts before that. All my slips or dresses didn't fit the puffed out silhouette of the dress, it was strange. The skirt and it's puffy silhouette was the perfect solution.

So remember I told you the seller for the previous dress was so sweet, she gives all her first time buyers a free gift. This was the free gift I recieved. An Amazing Vintage 90's buttonfront floral dress. The belt I added to accessorize the dress, although it doesn't really need it. By the way, did you see the back? Isn't it wonderful?

Bicycle & DIY

I just got a new bike for my birthday(which is on sunday next week). I've been on the hunt for a Roberto Pie inspired bike for a long time now but nothing that is semi-decent priced. I really wanted a bike with fenders on the wheels but the ones that I did finally find was the only one they had in the store and it had a flat and I didn't love the colors that much(red and white). Also a lot of bikes I did look into also with fenders didn't have handle brakes. They all had cruiser brakes which are on the pedal, kind of dangerous if you don't know how to use 'em. This bike had a handle brakes and a fender on the chain(it's on the other side) but the handle bars are amazing, they are so comfortable to ride with. You don't have to perch forward to reach for them. They let you ride in an upright position, its great!!! My friend(the one with the city cruiser) and I went last week to a $.99 store to find fake flowers so we could decorate our baskets. When I finally got my bike this past Friday I purchased a basket(which comes off of it's stand and you can take it with you wherever). I really wanted a wicker basket, but the one they had compared to the metal one, wasn't sturdy. I placed the flowers I purchased on my basket for a feminine, girly, hippie feel to the bike. It is still kind of bare, so I'm thinking to add a little bit more to it and maybe a cover for the inside, we'll see.
DIY
What you will need:
- Pliers(really tough one)
-fake white flowers
- fake butterflies
Photobucket
Step 1: Cut the stems off the flowers. Each individual stem can be used to wrap around the basket bar/wicker.
Step 2: Keep twining the wires around until you've reached the amount you feel is necessary.
Photobucket
Step 3: Cut the butterflies out of their branch and keep them on their individual stem, with flowers still attached. Twine the butterflies around the bar/wicker. Add as many as desired.

New Soul in the Park

Last weekend(not this past), I went to go see Yael Naim & David Donatien in Central Park. It was for SummerStage. A free events organization in NYC during the summer. So basically this show was free. It was amazing!!! Especially being outside, during dusk when the sun is just about gone, and night is slowly creeping in. It was magical!!!

Here We Go Again

Heres a Polyvore inspiration post that is an extension from the last post....

I wish I had some of these pieces. Like that dress, it's not quite floral and its not quite paisley. Its also on the verge of goth but I think thats why I'm drawn to it.
And chokers?? Seriously when was the last time you saw/wore chokers?
I'm still dying to get those Topshop sandals so I could scrunch up some over the knee socks with them. I'm waiting for them to go on some slight sale then maybe I'll get them.

Jump Around

I wore this out for a night at some bars on the Lower East Side.
Note: I went digging in the back of my closet(literally) for this denim jacket that I haven't seen since probably the early 2000's. I thought it was the perfect addition to finish off this look.

Girl and the Sea

Photobucket
On Saturday in Coney Island the annual Mermaid Parade took place. Its always this crazy, insane, indescribable event, that always leaves you with your mouth hanging open. Its a whirlwind and you can never fully get to see everything there is to see when your there. First off the participants in the parade are all dressed to the nines in their mermaid costumes, then some parade attendees always follow suit and get dressed up as well. Lets just say theres a lot of skin to go around. Every one from all boroughs flock to the seaside to witness this debacle. Let's hope it's not the last one either. As I got there, my friend and I were bombarded with an insane amount of people. This really got me psyched for Siren Festival in a couple of weeks!!! Can't Wait!!!

These buses were probably used as floats for the parade. They were so psychedelic and trippy and totally reminded me of Further and the Merry Pranksters.

These are shots I took of the famed Coney Island. I thought it would be cute if I made it look the way it used to look in photos from the early 1900's, when the park opened up its doors.

Ebay Finds 8,9,10,11,12

Photobucket
I haven't done an Ebay Finds post in a while, not only because I haven't bought much on there for a while, but just recently I've found some amazing stuff.
Gladiator Heels: First off I have to mention that the vendor that auctioned these shoes was probably the worst vendor I've ever had to deal with on ebay. I'd feel too bad mentioning the name of the store where I purchased these from but I feel compelled to warn others from having to deal with such unprofessional business. The name of the store is Ami Shoe Store. They posted these shoes, I bid and won them and then a couple of days later they send me an e-mail that they were back ordered. How can a shoe be posted on ebay if it's not in stock? Isn't that against ebay's policy?
Then the slue of e-mails back and forth requesting a different shoe size and color. It was horrendous. So as I'm about to cancel the order, what do you know, they're shipping my item. So I guess we'll have to see what kind of surprise is yet to arrive. Cross your fingers for me!!! I really hope they are these cute strappy numbers that I was so looking forward to.
Postman Briefcase: As I've been avidly reading many of the blogs that are on my blogroll, I have noticed many, many postman briefcases. Not only that but the girl, that I've mentioned previously with the navy schoolgirl pinafore, also had a postman breifcase. I was set to find one for myself.
Grungy Dresses: The green floral dress I actually recieved a while ago, I've never actually done an outfit post about it, but it will come soon. There are photos of me in it on Nickydigital.com.I wore it to a friends birthday at Hiro.
The plaid dress I know I won't be able to wear it for a little while but I couldn't pass up it's super cheap price tag, plus no one else was bidding on it.
The Babydoll floral dress was also super cheap and I had dreams of it paired with my navy blue schoolboy lace up boots and a denim jacket. I couldn't resist!!!
I actually just recieved it today(along with an additional floral dress I didn't order.Ooops!!! the seller probably accidentally shipped it with mine. I did e-mail her about it, we'll see what she says). An outfit post will come soon!!!
***Update: The seller that sent the additional dress, always sends a free gift with every new customer, so I just got a free dress. How sweet is that??
Also I received the shoes today. They came in the requested size and color.Although I preferred them in brown, it meant waiting for weeks upon weeks. They sent me a black and a half size smaller than originally purchased but it fits nonetheless. They are really cute and will post them soon.

With new style blogs surfacing everyday, it's apparent; Internet It Girls are changing people's views on fashion. With each one's take on their personal style, they have created their own place in the fashion world. More and more people are flocking to these blogs to check out what unique style can be inspirational and twisted to their own wardrobe. Lately my inspiration folder(seems like a requisite now) has been filling up non-stop. With girls like Moderniteter,Toutlamode,MissPandora,CherryBlossomGirl and the various beauties that grace the Cobrasnake it's no wonder my folder is full.

Last Year's Faves

I thought it would be fun to showcase some of my favorite go to outfits from last summer to see the transition from different styles. These outfits were my go to outfits while I was interning at Alice & Trixie last year. They were super comfy and chic. Although the style hasn't changed that drastically, there are minor details that can change the whole look. Being that I wasn't a fashion blogger last year, I didn't get to show them. I thought I could maybe take a trip down memory lane for a post and see the difference between both spring/summer '07 and spring/ summer '08.

Also the brown gladiator flats in these pics are also kind of destroyed but the damage is not that noticeable.

Newly Plaided

Photobucket
Photobucket
I wore this for a night out on the Bowery. This is the skirt I blogged about a while back. I purchased it a while ago but just now have taken it out on the town. I shortened the hem a bit because it's original knee length hem was just not gonna cut it. Surprisingly when I saw it in the stores the fabric was just so light and airy that even if it is plaid it can definitely work for summer as well as way into fall and winter too.
So I went to this bar called the Bowery Electric which was great but not alot of dancing, but great music. Then headed to this bar called Home Sweet Home and seriously i haven't had that much fun in I don't know how long. The young Lords (I think) were Djing and they had an amazing playlist. Song after song after song was sick. So as I'm chilling out in this basement style/ high school party style bar I look at this girl and I'm really looking at her thinking, that girl looks familiar who is she? Then i realized it was Kirsten Dunst. She looked soo good, not at all like they make her out to be as haggard looking on those gossip mags. She was fresh faced and cute. I seriously was back to back w/ her. It was definately a cool end to an awesome night. The pain in my feet from walking....now that's another story.

A Kook-y Show

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Photobucket

About two weeks ago(i know i need to be a little more up to date with this blog) I went to a Kook's show at Terminal 5 in hells kitchen. I went with my boyfriend and another two friends of ours. The show as you can tell was awesome. The sound and their performance was spot on although the lead singer was kind of being self centered, and I felt like there was a disconnection with the crowd, but it could be just because I was soo squished. He would also purposely sing in a strange manner so the crowd wouldn't follow in the sing-along fashion. It was kind of annoying and wierd. Especially since reading their NYLON article in NYLON's music issue they sounded so humble, but aside from that it was such a great show. They are an amazing band and have great talent. If you haven't seen them live, then go see them, they are sure to give a good performance.
On a side note: I wore this outfit to the show that night.
