Peaked

Some of you may have heard about the outrageous show on Sunday July 27th at Mccarren Park Pool. The weather was disastrous, the lines were horrendous and the amount of poeple inside was insane. People came out and braved the weather to little old brooklyn to come see The Ting Tings, Black Moth Super Rainbow and MGMT. It was a line-up not to be missed and everyone definitely did not. I penciled this show in probably since the end of May and have been looking forward to it just as much as Siren maybe even more. Over the last couple of weeks nearing the show I've been seeing ads for it everywhere and knew that it was gonna be quite the turn out but I was not ready for what was to come. Despite the weather there was a line that went down the block of the venue around the corner and then around another corner and down the avenue. I would say there was probably about 1200 people that showed up that day. They pretty much go to capacity at about 3:00. The doors opened at 2:00. I never made it anywhere near the gates. I was too far in the line.(Later on I felt a little stupid because there were ways to get in, that didn't include waiting on line). This show was probably the closest thing this side of the coast has scene to a real festival(since woodstock). Weather and all.Anyways I went to go look to see if there was a way to see the show from the park that is only separated by the gate of the pool. There was no way I was gonna miss this show. even if i wasn't inside.I found some people there trying to look into the venue through some peep holes on the netting of the gate. Finally for some reason Evelyn had a corkscrew in her bag and tried to cut one of the holes even bigger. Some guy saw that we almost had the whole thing cut open and took out his knife(for whatever reason he had a knife on him) and ripped the whole thing open. We had a great view of the stage( a bit far, but good nonetheless.)I made it just in time to hear the last few songs of The Ting Ting's set. They brought in a jump rope squad to jump during one of the songs. It kind of makes sense since they have a cheer leading sound anyways. By the time MGMT came out to perform the rain was gone and the set was fun.I also turned around to see the amount of people behind me, and the amount tripled by the time they came on. Overall I'm glad I stayed to watch the show and hear the music but it definitely doesn't beat being there with the rest of the crowd.
To give you an idea of how many people were inside the venue. but there were still people on line waiting and people watching from the fence.
